7 Although Bronowski rejected Rudmose-Brown's poems for inclusion in The European Caravan, he wrote a           preface to Rudmose-Brown's essay, "Grace Withheld from Jean Racine" which was published (558-564): "He is a scholarly critic whose work should influence the younger Irish critics: and, although of a pre-war generation, stands out as having anticipated the direction of much contem­ porary French and English criticism" (558).
