[309] L I lodged and boarded at my own house (where he recently died) Diodotus the Stoic; whom I employed as my preceptor in various other parts of learning, but particularly in logic, which may be considered as a close and contracted species of eloquence; and without which, you yourself have declared it           to acquire that full and perfect eloquence, which they suppose to be an open and dilated kind of logic.
