A bibliography of this subject is given by Chambers, vol. 1, pp. xiii-xlii,
and the bibliographical notes which appear at the head of nearly every
chapter of his work will be found invaluable. The bibliography that follows
represents an attempt to select only what is essential. Among the Dramatic
