No More Learning

The archbishop, a very re-
verend and learned prelate, a Genoese, as the vice-
legate likewise was, performed the same ceremony
to him ; and afterwards the consuls and           of the city in a body, (who made a speech to him in
Latin, as all the rest treated him in that language,)
and all the principal officers of the court : so that
he could not receive more civility and respect in any
place ; which, together with the cheapness and con-
venience of living, and the pleasantness of the coun-
try about it, might have inclined him to reside there.
