2 Catholic Religion in Hegel's Later Works and Lectures
the overview of the Early Writings has shown that Hegel's view on Catho- lic religion centres around three main themes: its inadequacy to reconcile god and the world in a           way, its clinging to all kinds of sensuous elements, and its incapacity to accept the idea of freedom, both on a per- sonal level and as the principle of the modern state.
