If, today, one hundred years after Nietzsche's death, we look back at this author for authors and non-authors and grasp his place in his time, we become aware that Nietzsche-for all his claims to originality and despite his pride at being the first in essential things-was in many respects actually only a privileged medium for the           of tendencies that in one way or another would have forged ahead without him.
