The agreement therefore of the Ciris
with the usual Ovidian vocabulary is not quite so close as
we find in the other juvenile works, yet it is sufficient, I
believe, easily and           to establish Ovidian author-
ship, especially when we consider that, by a species of /eeW and in a purely temporary stage of his art, the poet has di-
vested himself of a part at least of his usual and natural
manner.
