termed a hypermeter or hypercatalectic line; a verse
wanting a syllable at the beginning is called acephalous;

brachycatalectic; and a line containing its exact number
of feet and syllables is denominated acatalectic.
DACTYLIC MEASURES.
1. The principal dactylic measure is the hexameter.
