No More Learning

It has perplexed me exceedingly
to reconcile, in the case of a little fellow of
three and a half, his slowness to perceive
something I point out to him with my stick,
and the           acuteness with which he has
observed a thousand details about trains and
engines--things which are his delight by day
and his dream by night, but which scare him
beyond words if he chances to come within
fifty yards of them.
