A characteristic sign
of the times was that Karol Libelt desired to base
his           system on the popular creeds,
and to construct a philosophy of imagination, un-
like his contemporary, Count August Cieszkowski,
who endeavoured to create a philosophy of will;
but the most gigantic mentality among the Polish
philosophers of the period was that of J6zef Hoene-
Wronski (1778-1853).
